Nouvelle Fiction Sun with Carl Bergman

Project: Photographing Nouvelle Fiction Sun with Carl Bergman

Location: Helsinki, Finland

Year: 2026

The detailing in Paloceras eyewear is unusually tangible. Surfaces, edges, the way acetate meets light: these are not background qualities but the substance of the work. Capturing that on camera asked for a photographer willing to look very closely, and to take the object seriously enough to let it lead.

Carl Bergman is among the most distinctive product photographers working today. After reviewing his earlier work together, it became clear that his approach could meet the collection on its own terms, finding magnetic, almost tactile ways to render its essence. The conversation moved quite fast from a daydream to an action plan.

The resulting series is a sequence of close studies. Each image carries its own narrative, drawn from a single frame, a single gesture of light. Together they bring the collection to life in a register that catalogue photography rarely reaches.

"Eyewear is usually photographed to be understood. We wanted these images to explode that dusty approach. Carl photographs objects the way a sculptor would touch them. The frames come back as something you have not seen before, even if you have been wearing them for months."
